In Birmingham and Ann Arbor, Michigan

At BOYD, we are excited to announce that we are offering two new fillers approved by the FDA: Restylane® Refyne and Restylane® Defyne. Called the “next generation” of hyaluronic acid fillers, both of these fillers are meant to smooth out smile and laugh lines, while maintaining a natural appearance in patients 21 years and older.

While both of these fillers are made to address wrinkles and lines, they each treat lines of different degrees. Restylane® Refyne is approved for treatment of mild to moderate facial wrinkles, while Restylane® Defyne is approved for the treatment of moderate to severe deep facial wrinkles and folds. These wrinkles and folds develop over time due to facial movement, like smiling, laughing, or frowning.

Both of these fillers are made with the unique XpresHAn Technology, creating a flexible gel consistency while providing support in areas of facial lines, allowing for easy, natural facial movement. This means that these fillers will move with the face when expressions are made for a soft, natural appearance.

Areas Treated

While Restylane® Refyne can treat mild to moderate nasolabial folds (lines that run from your nose to the mouth) and marionette lines (lines that run from the mouth to the chin), Restylane® Defyne is designed to treat moderate to severe folds and lines. Both fillers are formulated to support facial expressions for natural-looking results. In some cases, a combination of both fillers may be used during one treatment session for optimal results.

Following injections, patients may experience mild swelling, itching, or soreness in or around the injection site(s). These side-effects should resolve within a few days. Makeup can also be used to conceal any redness.

Both of these fillers can offer long-lasting effectiveness, with results lasting for up to 12 months.  A consultation is needed to determine if Restylane ® Refyne or Defyne is a good match for you.
