In Birmingham and Ann Arbor, Michigan
Eyelid surgery is designed to eliminate excessive skin and protruding bags in the upper and lower eyelids. Our eyes change as we age. The skin around them is no exception. In some cases, the skin of the upper eyelids may become so excessive that it can impair vision. Some of these changes may occur as soon as the late twenties. Blepharoplasty in Ann Arbor, MI can restore sight as well as eye appearance.
How Eyelid Surgery Works
To complete an eyelift, incisions are placed in a skin crease of the upper lid and just below the eyelashes of the lower lid. After the bags are removed and skin is trimmed, the wound is meticulously repaired. An eyelift can be performed as an outpatient surgery under local anesthesia in a BOYD office. After surgery, some swelling and bruising of the eyelids can occur, but is typically minor.
What to Expect After Surgery
After a procedure, patients may notice redness or swelling around the eyes. Camouflage make-up can be used on the eyelids 48 hours following surgery. Sutures are removed three to five days after surgery. Following eyelift surgery, you will be able to return to work as soon as possible and, after a week of non-stressful activities, you can resume a normal routine.
