Long-Lasting Lip Enhancement

The lip lift treatment uses surgical techniques to enhance the appearance of the lips. This treatment can either shorten the length of a long upper lip or increase the proportions of a thin upper lip.

The lip lift procedure helps patients achieve long-term cosmetic benefits in the lips. Whether you have experienced signs of aging in the lips due to volume loss, or you’d simply like to enhance the proportions of the lips, a lip lift can be effective. Many patients prefer this technique because it avoids the potentially unnatural appearance that is produced by dermal fillers and injectables. Plus, as a surgical technique, a lip lift produces results that lasts for many years longer than dermal fillers.

Results

Results will be visible immediately but may not be fully visible until side effects fade. These results will last for many years to come.

How Long Do Lip Lifts Last?

Lip lifts create permanent results, meaning that they will last for many years. However, the lip lift technique cannot prevent the natural aging process. While your results are theoretically permanent, you will still develop gradual changes in the lips over time as the body ages. For many patients, it takes several years before the results of their lip lift fade away.

How Painful is a Lip Lift?

The lip lift procedure is performed with local anesthesia, which means the treatment area will be fully numbed for the surgery and you will experience no pain. However, you can expect some discomfort and sensitivity in the lips during the recovery period. During this time, you can use pain medications to help manage any discomfort, and may need to adjust your diet to make eating more comfortable.

How Long Does it Take to Recover from a Lip Lift?

The initial recovery period after a lip lift lasts less than a week. During this time, you will experience the majority of any side effects, and may choose to stay home from work and other activities to rest and heal. You’ll need to avoid exercise and sleeping directly on the face for at least two weeks after treatment. While scarring and swelling may take a little while longer to heal, most patients achieve a full recovery within two to three months.

Do Lip Lifts Look Natural?

Yes! In fact, many patients choose a lip lift instead of dermal filler and injectable treatments because it can provide more natural-looking results. However, the skill of your surgeon is vitally important to the natural appearance of your results. Dr. Boyd has extensive experience with the lip lift procedure, and can help you achieve the results you’re looking for.

Does a Lip Lift Leave a Scar?

During the lip lift procedure, incisions are made along the base of the nose. These incisions are carefully placed in the natural creases of the nose, where any scarring will blend in with the natural contours of the face. Ultimately, while the lip lift does leave a scar, any scarring is well-hidden and will likely go unnoticed.
