Learn About Kybella
A new injectable option is now available to patients who have been struggling with submental fat or a double chin. The FDA has approved Kybella, which is an injectable drug that can be administered in the chin area. It offers patients a non-surgical way to eliminate their unwanted fat. Dr. Boyd is currently the first doctor in Michigan to offer Kybella to his patients.
What Can I Expect From a Kybella Procedure?
Kybella is a synthetic form of a naturally occurring dioxycholic acid, which helps to destroy fat cells in patients over 18 years of age with moderate to severe submental fat.
Dr. Boyd will assess your skin to determine the required treatment of Kybella, but most patients may need 2 to 3 visits with about 12 to 20 injections per visit. Some of the patients may benefit from up to 6 visits with 50 injections of Kybella per visit.
The Results of Kybella
After a treatment, patients may experience swelling, bruising, pain, firmness and numbness around the site of injection for 2-3 days after the procedure. Patients in Birmingham and Ann Arbor who are concerned with their double chin and the accumulation of fat can contact Dr. Boyd about Kybella.
